Tortuga de Oro (Golden Turtle). Study of a Spotted Turtle. August-September 2003. Pencil and watercolor on stamped gold block-print ink. $3,800.00. “Seldom Seen”
This gallery, named for my ill-fated (due to the initial outbreak of the COVID -19 pandemic) exhibition at the Davidow Center For Art + Design in 2020, features a selection of my non-natural-history-based art work. I consider the above image of a spotted turtle to be far enough removed from a strictly nature study approach such as those in my book and botanical art to belong in this “seldom seen” category.
Essentially all other drawings and paintings in this broad grouping are quite different from my turtle, etc. art, as will be seen below.
I would be happy to arrange appointments for works under consideration for purchase to be seen in our gallery, or for a viewing of other paintings in this and other genres not represented here. There are unique departures from both my natural history art and the works shown in this gallery of images on view.
Viewings can also be arranged for original watercolors and pen and ink drawings produced for my five published books that I am offering for sale, as posted in my virtual gallery of art produced for my five published books page. And – I repeat here – for my archive as a whole, or any categories within it.
Works designated “Seldom Seen” were exhibited in that exhibition. This represents an initial provenance for each object.
In addition, Laurette’s original paintings are also on exhibition. The gallery is open by chance, basically every day. A call or email ahead in order to set a time and date is advisable during turtle time for me; or plein´-air´ painting time for Laurette: 603-456-3947; david@davidmcarroll.com
Questions and comments are welcomed. Any work ordered that does satisfy the expectations of the collector may be returned, in its original condition, for a full refund. Prices do not include shipping.
